Fed Up With Drivers Speeding Through Our Local Roads?
We are looking for volunteers to form a Community Speed watch Group which will operate initially, at least, jointly with the existing and experienced group in Chalfont St Peter. Volunteers need to be registered via the group and should complete and pass some online training which takes about 30 minutes. Beyond that, there are no qualifications needed, just the willingness to give up an hour or so of your time and a desire to be part of the solution to reduce speeding locally.
Community Speed watch is a national organisation with one purpose – to address the problem of speeding in local areas by educational means. It is supported and supervised by our local police. Details of speeding vehicles are recorded and a letter sent to the registered keeper explaining the potential risks and consequences of their behavior. Apart from logging speed, the system also collates DVLA data automatically about TAX, MOT, and SORN status, checking that vehicles meet the conditions to be on our roads.
If you would like to know more about volunteering with us, please email Cllr Diane Holden on [email protected] or leave your contact details with the town clerk and Cllr Holden will get back to you.
