Your Parish Council

On most Monday evenings there is a meeting of one of the Parish Council Committees. One is concerned with the care of the Common and Camp. Another looks after local highways, including street lighting, and advises Bucks County Council on main roads. These two committees meet monthly.

A third committee looks at planning applications and consults with those people living adjacent to the proposal. These meetings are held at least twice a month and make recommendations to the planning authority – South Bucks District Council. If the committee thinks that a proposed development is undesirable it tells South Bucks District Council that it objects strongly. However many plans are acceptable and the Parish Council raises no objections.

A fourth committee meets infrequently under the broad remit of Finance and General Purposes. The main task is to set a budget for the next financial year and the timetable for this process means that in October and November decisions are made on proposed expenditure for the financial year commencing the following April.

All decisions by committees are really recommendations to the Council. Full Council meetings are held on the third Monday of each month (not August).  Members of the public can attend these meetings and all committee meetings and will have the opportunity to speak if they let the chairman know their intentions in advance.

The Parish Council aims to ensure that Gerrards Cross remains a pleasant place to live. The main way it does so is by keeping in contact with any person or organisation  that wishes to make improvements which it helps to promote to enhance the satisfaction of residents.
