Your Parish Council

Gerrards Cross is a civil parish, one of 12 in South Bucks District. GXPC consists of 12 elected councillors, assisted by two part-time staff. Its major aim is to keep GX a pleasant place to live and, were possible, to improve its amenities. It manages the commons and ponds of GX and it also owns and manages The Camp, an early British Iron Age fort covering more than 10 hectares. Street lighting, other than on trunk roads, is maintained by the PC. It also inspects footpaths and acts to prevent them being overgrown by hedges or undergrowth. 

Full meetings of the PC are held on the third Monday of each month, except for August. Members of the public are welcome to attend these and all committee meetings and to speak if they let the chairman know in advance. There is also an Annual Parish Meeting in April or May, specifically to give residents the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.

The committees, which meet most Monday evenings, are:

PLANNING which looks at all planning applications, consulting with those people affected by the proposal and making recommendations to the South Bucks District Council which is the planning authority.

HIGHWAYS which looks after local highways, including street lighting, and advises Bucks County Council on main roads.

COMMONS which looks after the Commons and Camp

YOUTH

FINANCE AND GENERAL PURPOSES which sets the budget for the next financial year and monitors expenditure against this budget.
