Parish News - January 2010

Despite the generally gloomy economic forecasts, the Gerrards Cross Parish Council wish all residents a healthy, happy and prosperous 2010.

The long cold and snowy spell has bought us all many problems. The Council feels the lack of gritting on pavements and minor roads in the village centre to be unacceptable and has raised this with the District Council and with County Council Highways. We have also expressed grave concern at the delay in dealing with the increasing number of potholes in our roads – particularly the two deep ones on the bridge over the Packhorse Road.

The icy roads have also caused cars to skid and resulted in damage to two lamp posts. The Parish Council is responsible for their repair or, if necessary replacement, unless the car driver comes forward and we can make a claim under the car owner’s insurance.

Also, the weight of snow and ice has brought down a number of tree branches on the Commons. We have had these cut up so paths across the Commons are not obstructed and the Commons volunteers will clear up the debris when they next meet. All residents owe a debt of gratitude to the volunteers who meet on Saturday mornings once a month also to Councillors and other volunteers who regularly collect litter from the Commons and The Camp. Needless to say more volunteers would be made extremely welcome; just phone or email the Parish Office

Finally, all residents with children at St Mary’s and others who used South Park, will be happy to know that repairs to that road were due to start on 4 January and hopefully will as soon as the weather permits.
